Working With Tortorella Design

Phase Three: Implementation
Once the final layout is approved, the project has been proofread and everybody's just pleased as punch with every little detail, files are collected for the printer, fabricator or transferred to a server.

In the old days, we had a more formal production phase. In today's design arena, design and production are a bit blurred. In the dark ages prior to 1984, scans of images and typesetting took place after the layout was executed. Now these tasks usually occur during the layout phase on the computer. It's much more efficient and helps to reduce the timeline and costs.

If it's a print project, the printer will provide one last proof before setting ink to paper. In the case of the web, I upload the site to an area on my web site for testing. After the site passes all the tests, it's uploaded to its final domain.

Well, that's pretty much it. Since every project is different and clients have different needs, I like to keep things flexible. Overall, though, the general process is the same.
