If you're like a lot of smaller enterprises or one-person shops, you're
pretty good at what you do. If you weren't, you wouldn't be eating too often
or
paying for a roof over your head. But, although you're good at your core
services, you're probably not so hot when it comes to marketing and promoting
yourself and your business in a clear, consistent way.
Ever try going to sleep when you're wondering where your next project is
coming from? It's not an easy way to take off to the Land of Nod and you
end up spending way too much on antacids. That dough is better spent planning
your marketing efforts and then working your plan.
Lots of business owners think marketing is all about touting themselves and
their wares. "Hey! Look at me!" It's not. Marketing is all about
your clients or customers. It's about showing them the value you bring to
the table and how you can help them reach their goals.
You know you need a plan, but you either don't know where to start or how
to find the time and resources to pull it all together. Don't sweat it. That's
where I come in.
TD's Marketing Tune Up will help you position your business for the maximum
return on your efforts. Together, we'll sort out your goals, do the homework
and put a livable, affordable plan in place. Then we'll implement it.
Sound good so far?
Right about now, your asking yourself what all this entails. Well, here's
the skinny on that.
First, we'll have an initial interview to see if we're a good match. During
the interview, I'll ask you a boat load of questions about where you've been,
where you're at and where you want to be down the road.
Next, we'll do a SWOT Analysis. That's where we'll assess your business'
strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. From there, I'll roll up
my sleeves and prepare a Situation Analysis. That covers a Design Audit of
your existing branding and marketing materials, along with marketing research
about your audience and those pesky competitors. From all this, I'll prepare
a workable marketing strategy that's customized for your business and your
particular marketing arena.
What's covered it the marketing strategy? Glad you asked. First, it's not
simply some ideas about where to advertise or whipping up a blatantly promotional
press release. We'll dig a wee bit deeper.
Your custom marketing strategy will cover setting your pricing/fee structure,
a review of your current service offerings along with suggestions to improve
and/or add to them. Plus, it will cover your promotional efforts. That includes
planning for public relations, advertising and such. We'll also address your
distribution methods and geographic marketing area with plans to maximize
on those channels. Together, we also create a sales plan that's a just right
fit for your personality. We'll look at your current sales methods (if you
have any), develop a prospects list, telephone guidelines and a lead management
system with follow up tactics.
Finally, we'll create your marketing calendar, set reminders and implement
the plan.
The underlying idea is to take the time to create a plan that's easy for
you to keep up. Plus, you'll also be graced with me nagging you when you
put things off. On the up side, I usually don't have to send clients to bed
without their dinner or ground them for a week.
Still sounding good?
Great! But, right about now you're asking yourself, "Gee, I wonder how
much all this is going to set me back?" First, that's a bad mindset.
If handled correctly, marketing is a solid investment in the future of your
business. Gaining a few new clients will likely more than recoup your investment
quicker than a jackrabbit after a trip to Starbucks®. Odds are, even
one new client will do the trick. Marketing consulting is done on a retainer
basis. Together we'll work out a budget that's comfortable for you.
