How much will it cost?
This is probably the most common question. A better question might be, "How
much would you like to spend?" Since there's never a single "best" solution,
design can go on and on ... and on, just the the Energizer® bunny. Often
it's best to to put together a workable, livable budget for the project that
allows for enough time to create a solution that meets the project criteria
and goals.
Can we have this tomorrow?
Probably not. Unless it's a simple down and dirty job. Good design takes a
reasonable amount of time to research the facts and explore the options. I
do try my best to keep the project moving along and finish it up in a jiffy.
A "jiffy," by the way, is an actual unit of time for 1/100th of a
second.
On the up side, I'm usually faster than most in turnaround. This is because
I don't have a personal life. But heck, it's a small price to pay for keeping
my clients happy.
How do you bill?
For new clients, most projects are billed 50/50 - 50% upon acceptance of my
nifty proposal and the balance upon completion. Larger gigs are billed in three
thirds.
If you're a regular, I generaly bill hourly. I try to send out invoices on
the 15th. All invoices detail what I've been up to and how long each task took.
Invoices are net 15 days.
What is the lateral airspeed of the Spine-tailed
Swift?
220 mph.
My site just launched, but I can't find it in the
search engines. What's up?
Somebody once said, "If you build it, they will come." Don't count
on it. As a matter of practice, I encode my sites with keywords, a description
and other code for the search engines to index, along with manually submitting
them to various engines and directories. The indexing process can take some
time. Plus, link popularity if a big factor. Yup, the web has become a popularity
contest. Many search engines weigh in the number of sites that link to yours.
The more that do, the higher your ranking.
What were the last words spoken by Leonardo da Vinci?
"I have offended God and mankind because my work did not reach the quality it
should have."
Geez, some people are never satisfied.
