Marketing Tune Up Kit
I've been working on packaging my marketing consulting service – Marketing Tune Up – into a stand alone "kit," of sorts. I'm at the stage where some feedback would be a nifty idea.
The kit will contain several elements to get the marketing and budget-challenged out there up to speed with a minimum of fuss. Here's what I'm planning to include:
Marketing Plan Template
This is an annotated template that includes sections for the Executive Summary, Current Situation, Competition, Target Audience, Objectives, Strategy, Action Plans, Budget and Calendar. Combined with the other elements in the kit, all one needs to do is pretty much fill in the blanks.
Current Situation Analysis
This is a questionnaire that helps focus where folks are at and how they got there. It also includes a snapshot of the marketing environment, product/service offerings and such.
Competitive Analysis
This is another questionnaire, along with a set of resources and methods to find out what the competition's up to and how to manage that information.
Target Market Analysis
This is where folks will learn how to research their prospects and profile their typical best client.
SWOT Analysis
A SWOT Analysis shows the business' strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. It's a good way to get a handle on what one's got going for them and what might make the foundations crack a bit.
Marketing and Public Relations Tactics
This will be a description of various methods to get the word out. It will also include plusses and minuses for each and ways to maximize on the efforts while conserving budget.
I'll also be including some of my calculators and spreadsheets.
The kit is essentially the stuff I use for my clients in one handy folder. I know there's a lot of independents and small business out there who don't have the cash to rent me personally. I thought this would be a good way for them to get their marketing into shape without breaking the bank. My consulting service is $1500 for the whole enchilada and $750 for the low-cal version. I'm planning to offer the kit for $79.99.
I'll be interested to hear your feedback on whether you think this is a worthwhile endeavor and if the price is right.
Thanks!

I think it's a GREAT idea, Neil! And certainly folks would be hard-pressed to be quality marketing services bundled at a lower price than what you've listed.

Thanks, Chris. As I mentioned on the About, I'm still testing things out, but it's important for me to keep things affordable. Odds are those folks who don't have a handle on their marekting probably don't have a bank account with lots of zeros after the numbers. :-)

I believe fate has smiled on me . . . I don't know how I landed here but your Marketing Tune Up Kit is just what I need!!!!
An independent graphic designer for 8 years (previously I was Senior Designer at a big firm for 15 years), I have spent the last 3 years trying to learn as much as I can about Marketing.
I have no formal training nor idea of how to go about some of the things I read about. I am at the stage where I know I need to start writting things down so I can organize some sort of actionable plan but I cant seem to figure out how to do it. So, you see, fate pushed me your way.
I agree that you should keep it affordable because besides not having a lot of $$$ to spare, there is also the fact that people that are more or less where I am right now are afraid of spending too much money on something that they dont fully understand (which is why we would buy it, to be able to understand it better). We have to be very careful as to where we put the little money we can spare (I know that this is a Catch 22 situation: if you dont invest in it you will never have it etc... but thats how the mind works).
Anyway, great idea, need someone to test it???
Let me know, I am really interested.
